This was our first care program in 2012. We focused on children are eight years and younger. The theme was “Environment”, therefore, they made a dust bin by themselves.

Sports Festival 2011

On 4th November, it was a beautiful morning. Terakoya children gathered in the Ashianga field. it was the Sports Festival. Children who had practiced was looking forward to the Sports Festival.

There were two teams, were “Joyful” and “Cheerful”. They enjoyed the relay, obstacle race, and so on. the dance and team acrobat were one of the most remakable performances.

On that day, the guardians also came to see how their children play and support them. In the end of the day, they were so suticefied on what they did.

Hello. I’m Ayami, a student volunteer. I’m in charge of Tuesday. He is Nakaswa John, an overseas student, is going to apply for Kansai Gakuin university. He experienced a harder life than ordinary Ugandans face. However, now he has a chance to go to Japan and get the bright future. Because a lot of people have helped him.　His dream is an Ugandan ambassador to Japan. He would help the poor and change Uganda in the future.

Today’s special class

Hello. I am Hamachi, a student volunteer. I am in charge of Monday. Today’s special class teacher was Takanusi. He is a teacher of PE. On 4th November, we have a Sports Day. So, Terakoya children were practicing coordinated group gymnastics in the special class. It is hard for children to do coordinated group gymnastics. Children were getting tired. But children looked enjoying. I hope that coordinated group gymnastics will be successful in the Sports Day.

Hello.　I’m Marin Hayasaka, a student volunteer. I’m in charge of Saturday. In the game time, we played tag hand in hand. It was difficult for children to understand the rules. But the children really enjoyed it while they were playing the game time. I’m happy when they enjoy playing the game.

Voluntary Work in Koboko

Hello, I’m Kaku, a staff of Ashinaga. I’m in charge of Wednesday. I went to Koboko, North-West Uganda to see one of our volunteers who works at an organization, WENDWOA; West Nile Disadvantaged Women & Orphans Association. She works there for 6 months. She is popular among people in Koboko. The photo shows her and her room-mate.

Hello. I’m Ayami, a student volunteer. I’m in charge of Tuesday. He is Sande Flancis, an overseas student. He applied to Doushisha university, which is one of the best university in Japan. Now, he is waiting for the result from the university and I’m teaching him Japanese. He told　me that he wanted to study in Japan to help people in the future.
